The Voters Block Community is a $20 million scattered site project along West Main Street in Rochester, NY. The project is underway with a focus on 431 West Main Street.
This site is where Susan B. Anthony voted illegally at a barber shop in 1872. The project features the new construction of a 39 unit, mixed use apartment building with a community room, resident storage, laundry, and a 2,300 s.f. café located on the first floor.
The project will also include the historic rehabilitation of an 8 unit apartment building located down the street at 556-560 West Main Street. The apartments in this building will all be one bedroom units. There will also be a 2,288 square foot commercial space available for rent on the first floor.
The remainder of the project will include the construction of 45 new, single family homes and duplexes in the surrounding neighborhoods. These homes will be managed by Rochester Housing Authority.
Construction has begun! Occupancy for the apartment communities is expected for Spring 2012, while residents have already been moving in to the family homes!
